China has released a review on the US human rights record, listing numerous violations and describing it as "tattered and shocking". According to Press TV, the State Council, or Cabinet, released the report after the US State Department took China to task for widespread human rights violations. The report said it is time the US government "face its own human rights problems with courage" and give up the unwise practices of applying "double standards" on human rights issues and using it to suppress other countries. Some of the statistics in the report show the United States of America is the world's largest prison and has the highest population of inmates in the world, the official poverty rate was 12.3 percent and there were 36.5 million people, or 7.7 million families, living in poverty in 2006. Also the US Census Bureau states that 47 million people in the United States are not covered by health insurance and as for racial discrimination, black people and other minor ethnic groups live in the bottom of the US society.
