China Defends Arms For Zimbabwe As 1 Shipment Returns

中国为向津巴布韦军售进行辩护，不过同时也承认最近因非洲港口工人拒绝卸货而有一批军品拟运回中国。目前非洲国家津巴布韦正深陷总统选举危机之中。China defended its arms shipments to Zimbabwe, the Africa nation stricken by an election crises, even as it acknowledged that a recent shipment was headed back to China after African dockworkers refused to unload its cargo.

外交部发言人姜瑜周四在新闻发布会上表示，据她所知，中国公司已经决定将原拟向津方交付的货物原船运回。'To my knowledge, the Chinese company has decided to recall the ship and the relevant goods bound for Zimbabwe,' Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said during a news conference Thursday.

不过她指出，运往津巴布韦的军品属于正常的军贸。她说，在常规军贸领域，中国和一些国家保持着正常的合作。这些合作符合中国的军贸政策和法规，符合安理会有关决议精神，符合中方所承担的国际义务。中国对军品出口一贯持负责和谨慎的态度。But she defended the shipment as legal. 'In the field of conventional weapons, we have trade relations with some countries. These are consistent with our laws and with Security Council resolutions and China's international obligations. We have been very responsible and cautious with regards to weapons exports,' Jiang said.
